CHAPTER 2: THE BIG STEP FORWARD

That morning, Thoshinie and her father were getting ready for the big day secondary school registration. Thoshinie wanted to look her best, so she rummaged through her wardrobe, searching for a formal outfit that felt just right. After much deliberation, she chose a silky blue shirt paired with formal pants, a simple yet elegant choice.

Before heading to the new school, they stopped by Thoshinie’s primary school to collect her certificates and documents. Standing in front of the school gates, familiar yet distant now, brought a wave of emotions. Knowing she could no longer walk through as a student in uniform felt bittersweet, but the anticipation of what lay ahead kept her moving forward.

Soon, Thoshinie and her father arrived at SMK Bukit Mewah, one of the top schools in Seremban. The sight of the large campus immediately made an impression—it was nothing like the small Tamil primary school Thoshinie had attended. The environment felt new and exciting, with students from diverse backgrounds, including Malay and Chinese. It was a whole new world, and the nerves were almost overwhelming.

After joining the registration queue, her father began filling out the necessary forms while Thoshinie found herself mesmerized by the beauty of the school. However, amidst the excitement, a small mishap occurred—Thoshinie had forgotten to print an extra copy of her exam results. Completely unaware of the mistake, she handed over the original copy when asked for a duplicate.

As Thoshinie walked through the registration sections with her father, her thoughts began to wander. Was she ready for the challenges ahead? Was she strong enough to face this big, unfamiliar world? The nerves were still there, but somewhere deep down, she knew that this was the beginning of something important. SMK Bukit Mewah was no longer just a school—it was the place where her story would unfold.

Moving ahead with the forms completed, the duo moved on to the next section. They paid the yearly fees, purchased school notebooks, and collected essentials like the school tie. Each step brought Thoshinie closer to realizing that this was the beginning of a new chapter. But, as they finished up and headed toward the exit, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something unexpected was just around the corner..
